Burger King Mclamore Foundation is currently inviting applications for the Burger King Scholars Program 2022.
The Burger King Scholarship program comprises three awards, namely, the BURGER KING General Track, BURGER KING Employee-Based Track, and the James W. McNamara WHOPPER Scholarship.
The aim of the program is to help workers, employees’ spouses or domestic partners, employees’ children, and high school seniors in the USA, Puerto Rico, and Canada fund their own education.
It is also intended to help students offset the cost of attending college or post-secondary vocational or technical school. The Burger King Scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $50,000.

So far, the Burger King Scholars Program is administering the Burger Scholarships for The Burger King McLamore Foundation and has provided over $35 million in scholarships to over 33,000 students.

Burger King Mclamore Foundation
Burger King Mclamore Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization and the charitable arm of the Burger King system, established in October 2005.
The Foundation administers the Burger King Scholars program as well as the Burger King Family Fund and has been making positive impacts on the communities in which they work and live.
Since its inception in 2000, the Burger King Scholars program, named in honor of Burger King Co-Founder James “Jim” W. McLamore, has given almost $55 million in scholarships to over 45,000 high school students, BK® workers, and their families across North America.
The Foundation alone gave roughly 4,000 students over $4.6 million in scholarships in 2022.
The purpose of scholarship awards, which vary from $1,000 to $50,000, is to assist students in defraying the expense of attending post-secondary vocational/technical school or college. The selection of recipients is based on the recipient’s grade point average (GPA), job history, extracurricular involvement, and community service.

Burger King General Eligibility
This Burger King scholarship is available to all qualified high school seniors. Below are some requirements you’ll have to meet:
- Be living in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico to qualify for the Burger King Scholarship
- Be a graduating high school senior (for the U.S. and Puerto Rico), graduating from grade 12 (for Canada), or graduating from home school education in the U.S., Puerto Rico, or Canada
- Have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent
- Plan to enroll full-time, without interruption, for the entire 2019-20 academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico
Note: Spouses or domestic partners of employees, employees, and their dependent children who meet eligibility requirements for the General and Employee-Based Track will be considered for an award in both tracks, but if selected, will receive only one award.

Evaluation Criteria for the Burger King Scholars Program
Candidates must demonstrate a desire to pursue further education. Additionally, their academic success and involvement in extracurricular activities at school and in the community will be evaluated. The James W. McLamore WHOPPER Scholarship also considers work experience and the need for financial aid.

Application Deadline for Scholarship
As an applicant, you will have to send the Burger King Scholarship application digitally. The scholarships are between $1000 to $50,000 and the application form window is available from October 15th, 2022 through December 15th 2022.
But, if the Burger King McLamore Foundation gets 50,000 applications prior to December 1-5, they stop accepting applications.
Students will continue to have access to their portal to view their submissions after submitting their applications. After the deadline, they will receive status updates and update profile information, but you won’t be able to make any changes or additions to your Burger King Scholarship application.

Burger King Scholars Program Calendar of Events
- 2022 – October 15–The application period begins
December 15 – The application period ends.
- 2023 – April/May – Burger King sends E-notifications to recipients and non-recipients
August – The Foundation sends Award Checks to successful recipients. Checks are made payable for the student only in his/her accredited institution.
November – Award checks are sent to employee recipients pursuing an enrichment program
- 2023 – February – Burger King sends Award Checks to employee recipients pursuing an enrichment program that starts February 2023 or as a preferred check date.

How to Achieve Success in the Burger King Scholars Program
1. Apply Early
Although applications are accepted between October 15 and December 15, applying early is still important. The application will be removed if 50,000 applications are submitted by the deadline on December 15.
2. Emphasize active leadership responsibilities
The Burger King Scholars program gives priority to students who can show they play a significant leadership role in community service, athletics, and/or other extracurricular activities, in addition to having a high GPA. While having a strong GPA is crucial, this grant also seeks to honor students who exhibit remarkable all-around ability.
3. Describe your extensive job experience
If you have any work experience, please mention it. This relates to the idea that scholarships are awarded to people who show they are well-rounded and have a range of skills they may offer.
4. Stress how much you like learning
The goal of this scholarship is to encourage and support individuals who are sincere in their desire to pursue higher education. Draw attention to the many tasks, endeavors, or initiatives you’ve completed to support your aim.

All high school seniors and all Burger King restaurants, corporate and field employees, their spouses, and children in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.
After submitting your Burger King scholarship application, you will receive an email acknowledging that your application has been received. This is within 24 hours. You can contact Scholarship Management Services by email at burgerkingscholars@scholarshipamerica.org or call 507.931.8340.
Burger King Scholarship Awards are not renewable; but, $1,000 Employee-Based Track (as defined in the eligibility criteria) recipients may reapply to the program each year if they meet the eligibility criteria. These recipients are eligible to receive up to a maximum of four annual awards (up to $4,000)

Generally, the Burger King scholarship will not be taxable as long as it is used for qualifying expenses such as tuition and books. Consult your tax advisor to determine whether or not it is taxable in your circumstance.
All applicants for the Burger Scholars Program will get a notification via email in May of the following year. Recipients will also receive formal notification via U.S. mail.
