Case Western Reserve University aims to students on the path to personal, intellectual, and professional success. considerations are based on the applicant’s academic background, life experiences, and interests. There is also no minimum test score or GPA range to gauge the potential for admission. 

Undergraduate 

Before high school graduation, first-year graduate students are required to complete a minimum of:

  • 4 years of English
  • 3 years of math
  • 3 years of science (2 must be laboratory science)
  • 3 years of social studies
  • 2 years of foreign language

For engineering or the sciences applicants, an additional year of math and laboratory science is recommended. 

First-year applicants are also required to submit either the SAT or ACT, despite that the writing section of the ACT and the essay section of the SAT are not compulsory. Prospective students can submit self-reported scores by completing the form on their applicant portal while enrolling students will confirm their testing with official score reports.

All first-year students must complete an essay via the Common or Coalition Application. The essay should entail details of who you are to the admission staff. Case Western Reserve University expects students to personalize their admission essays and be honest about them. 

Graduate 

The admission of new graduate students into Case Western Reserve University is determined by each program within the School of Graduate Studies. Final decisions are posted by the admission staff and can be viewed by logging in to the online application system

Graduate applicants are not required to send official test scores during the application process. Official TOEFL or GRE test scores are to be sent through ETS using the institutional code of 1105 for Case Western Reserve University if accepted while IELTS scores can be verified online. 

Official transcripts during the application process are not required to be sent by the applicant. They must come directly from the institution either mailed in a sealed envelope or sent electronically for it to be accepted. 

Unofficial copies of their transcripts as well must be uploaded onto the application for review purposes.
