Every year, Cornell University accepts several thousand new students as members of its incoming freshmen class regardless of race, religion, gender, or financial ability. At the same time, Cornell Admissions is very competitive, with an admissions rate of just under 11%. and prospective students must have the intellectual ability, character, involvement in their schools and communities, and a passion for Cornell itself.

Undergraduate

First-year applicants who have recently completed high school or have graduated from high school but have earned fewer than 12 credits at a college or university must complete and send all the application items below.

  • The Common Application (CA) or Universal College Application (UCA)
  • The School Report
  • Counselor Recommendation
  • Two Teacher Evaluations
  • The Midyear Report, when your mid-year grades are available
  • $80 application fee or a fee waiver
  • Required standardized test scores (only scores sent directly from testing agencies are accepted)
  • Official secondary/high school transcript
  • Cornell University Questions and Writing Supplement (CA) or Cornell Supplement (UCA)

International or domestic freshman applicants are required to submit either their SAT or all ACT scores. Cornell considers the highest section scores across test dates for the SAT while for the ACT test, the highest composite score across all ACT dates is considered.
