How To Increase Your Chances of Being Awarded The Future Brights Scholarship

There are four main channels to boost your odds of being a Future Brights Scholar, they are:

  • Coursework: By meeting all coursework requirements for your school, you stand a better chance of being awarded the scholarship than someone who didn’t complete their coursework requirements
  • GPA: Since the GPA requirements are weighted, an advanced or honors class taken will be an advantage to your GPA. But, you can always go for any of the other scholarship awards if your GPA is not strong enough for the FAS award.
  • ACT/SAT scores: Higher ACT/SAT scores will open up more scholarship opportunities in addition to better-ranking school options. Start preparing for and taking the tests earlier rather than later. This is to give yourself time and less pressure to perform.
  • Service hours: Try to set a schedule (e.g., have a set time that you go every week, at the same time) to feel more committed to it. The best way to meet the minimum service hours is through consistency.

You must be a Florida resident pursuing or pursuing a Florida high school graduation and who intends to enroll in a Florida postsecondary institution to be eligible for a Bright Futures Scholarship.
