The Fuqua School of Business (Duke business school) is the business school of Duke University founded in 1969 in Durham, North Carolina. Fuqua is well known for its solid healthcare education, and its focus on teamwork among its MBA student. 

More than 1,300 students are enrolled in degree-seeking programs. Duke Executive Education also offers non-degree business education and professional development programs. Program Summary

M.A. Economics (MAE)
This master’s program is designed to use a quantitative approach to economics with the flexibility to tailor the degree to fit students’ future goals. This program involves comprehensive instruction in a wide range of areas within the discipline, including computational economics, financial economics, and economic analysis. 
M.A. Analytical Political Economy (MAPE)
This is a joint master’s program of the Departments of Economics and Political Science, created due to a growing interest in the political economy among young economists and in economics by young political scientists.
M.S. Economics & Computation (MSEC)
The joint field of economics and computer science was created from two converging intellectual needs: Computer science has become very important for economists working with big data to address complex questions.  Ideal candidates for this program are students interested in learning about computational mechanism design with applications to economics.
M.S. Quantitative Financial Economics (MQFE)

PH.D

Duke University offers a state-of-the-art doctoral program in economics, featuring an exceptional faculty of scholars and teachers, as well as superior research facilities. In the first year of the program, the critical foundation necessary for later work in field courses and dissertation-level research is learned.

The Duke MBA consists of various joint degree programs in conjunction with other graduate and professional programs. Fuqua reported a median GMAT score of 710, an 80% GMAT range of 660–750, with 39% international male and 34% female students.

Fuqua School of Business Interview

Though Fuqua interviews are conducted by invitation only, there’s is an Open Interview Period whereby all early applicants are invited for an interview. You are not expected to have a completed application to be interviewed during the Open Interview Period, but it is important you must have started an application and have already completed the biographical information section.

The Fuqua interview may be conducted by either a staff member, alumni, or current student. The estimated time given by Fuqua for the interview

is 30-45 minutes. Due to the pandemic, this year’s admissions cycle interviews will be held remotely. The questions will be behavioral interview questions and the interview will be blind.

Interviewer profile

The Fuqua interview may be conducted by either a staff member, alumni, or current student. The Interview is an opportunity for the applicant to explain their resumes through relaxed conversation. The interviewer may not have read through the applicant’s resume yet. 

The Interviews will be straightforward for the most part, but you should be ready to answer an unexpected question or two if you’re asked. The interview tone is basically conversational and informal. 

Most of the questions are heavily focused on your workplace experience and management style. They include open-ended inquiries about your leadership style to direct questions on your career trajectory. The interviewer will also want to know why you have chosen to go for your MBA at Fuqua school of business and what you can bring to the program. 

Length

The time duration for the interviews is between 30 and 45 minutes, but if you are having a remote interview, it may run long, even up to an hour. 

Location

In-person interviews are suspended for the 2021/2022 admissions cycle. Applicants are expected to prepare for a virtual interview. While preparing for the virtual business engagement, you should make sure you have good lighting, a high-speed wired Internet connection, and that your computer camera points directly to eye level.

Format

The Fuqua school of business interview questions are designed in a straightforward question-and-answer format. It starts with a resume walkthrough followed by 12 questions/prompts that begin with. The interviewer may take notes as you answer.

In the end, you may be asked if you have any questions for the interviewer. The Fuqua admission committee is especially interested in why an applicant wants to attend their program, so this is a good opportunity for you to show your genuine interest and passion for the Fuqua MBA.

You are expected to submit legibly, scanned copies of all unofficial transcripts from each college or university you have attended and where you have:

  • earned (or will earn) a degree;
  • studied for one or more semesters;
  • earned 12 or more credits (note: the 4 or more credits only apply if your university awards 1 credit for the typical class instead of 3 credits);
  • and/or taking a class that correlates to your graduate study interests. 

Transcripts must include:

  • Your name and the name of the university
  • Every course was taken and the grade received
  • The degree received and date it was conferred

You can upload a copy of your diploma if your transcripts do not state the degree and date conferred. Transcripts that are not in the English language must be translated, attested, and uploaded along with the original document. International students should go through the additional transcript guidelines.

3. Business resume:

You will submit a one-page resume electronically within the online application system. Include the location, title, date, and responsibilities, for employment and volunteer positions, starting with your most recent position. The education section should also include dates of attendance and degrees conferred.

GMAT, GRE, and Executive Assessment (EA) scores are accepted by Fuqua School of Business. Test scores are only valid for 5 years, and official score reports at the time of application are not required. You are only required to self-report your score and provide official scores when you are admitted. There is no preference for which exam you should provide, and you can update your scores after your application is submitted. There is no minimum test score requirement.
