Catholic schools

Catholic schools are Christian parochial schools administered by adherents of the Catholic Church. The schools teach religious education and secular subjects in their curriculum.

Catholic schools are different from public schools because they focus on the development of individuals as practitioners of the Christian faith. The teachers and students are meant to focus on four fundamental rules initiated by the Church and school. This includes education in regards to life and faith, the Catholic identity of the school, a celebration of life and faith, and action and social equality.

Catholic schools are generally nondenominational like other Christian-affiliated institutions. They accept anyone regardless of religion or denominational affiliation, race or ethnicity, sex, or nationality, provided the admission requirements and legal documents are submitted. However, non-Catholics, whether Christian or not, can choose not to participate in some required activities, especially those of a religious nature.
