International Documentary Photography Scholarship 2022

The International Documentary Photography Scholarship is intended to promote socially conscious documentary photography and encourage personal involvement in social issues. It is open to all fully matriculated undergraduate and graduate students, regardless of ethnic background, degree major, gender, or country of residence.

The student is free to entirely choose the subject matter. However, it should clearly document a person, place, event, group of people or happening of social relevance. Submitted images should also be arranged and presented so they clearly tell the story of what is being documented.

The project can be about people, global or local events, urban or rural issues, and environmental issues, including land use or misuse, which will all be considered. The key is to indicate through your photographs that you are involved and are able to communicate your feelings about the subject you are documenting.

The medium of capture is not important. Images may be made with a DSLR camera, view camera, cell phone, or any other capture device, film or digital.

The application is open and available to all fully matriculated undergraduate and graduate students. This is regardless of their gender, degree major, country of residence or ethnic background. Also, the students have the opportunity to choose their subject matter.
