The bank is also putting up effort in partnering with the Ministry of Education in Malaysia, Council of Higher Education in Turkey, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Tunisia, Morocco, and Jordan to place Islamic Development Bank students at top universities.

The aim of the scholarship is to grant educational opportunities for exceptional young students from member countries and Muslim communities in non-member countries to pursue undergraduate study in a university and to train them in specific fields to contribute to their communities with a special focus on “Sustainability Science” which resonate within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Presidency 5-Year Plan (P5P).

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

·         The scholarship covers the tuition fee and monthly Stipend.

·         Amount of Medical Treatment at University/Government Hospital.

·         Economy Class Return Air Tickets and installation and equipment allowance for the students selected to study abroad at partnered universities/countries.

PLACE OF STUDY

Selected students must get admission offer in one of the approved fields of study at one of the top public/government universities in their own countries. Student can seek admission in member countries that have an agreement with the ISDB, including Malaysia, Morocco, Tunisia, and Turkey In case of unavailability of fields of study in their home countries.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

To be for this scholarship:

·         You must be citizens of any of the IsDB member countries or Muslim communities in non-member countries.

·         You must have completed high school with minimum good grades in major subjects.

·         You must not in receipt of any other scholarship.

·         You must be medically fit.

Ø  MASTER’S SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (2 years)

The aim of the scholarship is to grant educational opportunities for exceptional young students from member countries and Muslim communities in non-member countries to pursue master’s degree in a university and to train them in specific fields to contribute to their communities with a special focus on “Sustainability Science” which resonate within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Presidency 5-Year Plan (P5P).

·         The cost of medical treatment at the university/government hospital

·         Economy class return air tickets

·         Thesis preparation Allowance.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

To be considered for this scholarship:

·         You must be citizens of any of the IsDB member countries or Muslim communities in non-member countries.

·         You must be a graduate with a grade above “Good” in your bachelor studies.

·         You must not in receipt of any other scholarship.

·         You must be medically fit.

Ø  ISDB Ph.D. AND POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Ph.D. and Post-Doctoral Program is designed to enhance the scientific, technological, and research capability and the potential of scholars, researchers, institutions, and countries to meet the national needs in the area of science and technology to improve their socio-economic conditions.

This Program leads to a full-time Ph.D. degree (three years maximum) and Post-doctoral research (one year maximum).

This is an interest-free loan scholarship awarded (Qard Hasan) to the scholars but grants to their communities/countries. At the end of the program, beneficiaries are required to refund 50% of the loan after graduation and securing gainful employment, to a Local Education Trust Fund (LETF) established in each member country benefiting from the Program.

Upon completion of the research, the scholars are required to participate in the development of their communities/countries, through their respective professions, while contributing to their community/countries development.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be considered for a Doctorate, you must meet the following:

·         You must have a minimum Master degree (for Ph.D. study) in one of the approved fields of the program

·         You must Have above average (“Very Good”) academic standing;

·         You must have preferably work and research experience

·         You must have a well-developed plan of study and research in one of the fields listed under the approved areas of study of the program.

·         You must not seek or accept no other scholarship or remunerated work during their studies under the Program.

·         You must be medically fit and be willing to undergo medical tests after selection.

To be considered for Post-doctoral research:

·         You must have a Ph.D. degree in one of the approved fields of the program.

·         You must have above average (“Very Good”) academic standing;

·         You must not have less than two (2) years of research experience.

·         You must have a record of publications/research in the same field.

·         You must have a well-developed plan of study and research in one of the fields listed under the approved areas of study of the program.

·         You must seek or accept no other scholarship or remunerated work during their studies under the Program.

·         You must be medically fit and be willing to undergo medical tests after selection.

OBLIGATIONS

·         Scholarship holder must sign the IsDB’s prescribed Scholarship Agreement stating their commitment to their studies, communities, and countries upon graduation;

·         Scholarship holders must devote themselves to their studies on a full-time basis and provide the IsDB with reports on their academic progress and studies regularly.

·         Beneficiaries must not accept any other scholarship or remunerated work during their studies under the Program, which may interfere with their studies.

·         Scholarship holder must Respect the laws of the country of study and maintain good personal and professional conduct consistent with the rules, regulations, and objectives of the Program and the overall mission of the IsDB.

·         Scholarship holder must refund 50% of the loan after graduation and securing gainful employment, in easy installments, to the Local Education Trust Fund (LETF) established by the IsDB in their countries.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

·         Scholarship holder must note that the program does not cover expenses for the student’s family; extra-curricular courses of training; language courses and any additional travel during the study program.

SELECTION PROCESS:

The selection involves a rigorous process that is supervised by a Selection Committee, composed of academicians in all development-related fields and chaired by the Senior Advisor to the President for Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI).

All candidate applications will be meticulously reviewed in detail by a panel of scientists to ascertain the scientific and development relevance of the field of study proposed and to assess the overall qualifications of the applicants.
