Tuition Fee Exemptions

Please be rightly informed that there are some groups of students who are classified as sacred cows when it comes to paying Middle East Technical University (METU), Tuition 2020. The following groups of students are exempted from tuition fee payments as long as they are within their regular period of study:

• Students with the Republic of Turkey or Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus nationality
• Students with Syrian nationality

1-FEES

1.1. TUITION FEES

Middle East Technical University (METU), Sibling Discount

One of the siblings (with a lower scholarship) will pay the reduced tuition fee of $6000 per academic year. Any further Tuition Waiver discount granted will be calculated taking this reduced fee as a base. Both siblings must be registered as regular students. (Foreign language school students and undergraduate program students can benefit from the discount) In order to benefit from the discount, students should apply with their passport copies to the Registrar’s Office until the last day of the add/drop period of that semester.

Middle East Technical University (METU), SCHOLARSHIPS

Tuition waiver scholarship opportunity for the academic year 2022-2023

Tuition waiver scholarships of 25% and 50% offered at the time of admission to applicants with application scores (National or International curriculum) considerably above the minimum required for application and 75% & 100% for exceptionally successful applicants. The applications are evaluated by the international students’ admission committee weekly.

Duration for the scholarship: 5 years in the program of study (Note: The duration of all undergraduate programs are four years), plus 1 year in the English Language Preparatory Program (if required).

Suspension Condition: The scholarship is suspended for the following semester if the student falls into Probation status in any semester other than his/her first two semesters in the degree program, and will be re-granted once the student gets out of Probation. (As per the METU NCC regulations, the student falls into probation status if his/her CGPCA falls below 2.00 out of 4.00 for two consecutive semesters)

The scholarship of students who attend the English Preparatory Program for one year, and have a yearly total of 50.00 or above or students who score a minimum of 50 in any one of the English Proficiency Exams they take continues for another year. In other words, they can repeat the English Preparatory Program under the same scholarship.

Middle East Technical University (METU), Merit Scholarship 2022:

On condition that student has successfully completed the first two semesters of an undergraduate degree program, excluding the Prep School period, and that their Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) has placed them among the top 3% of the total undergraduate students enrolled in that particular program, excluding those attending the Prep School classes;

Students who have attained an N-CGPA (Weighted-Cumulative Grade Point Average) in the interval of 3,50 – 3,74 based on a 4 point scale become eligible to receive a “Merit Scholarship”, which amounts to 450 TL per month, covering October, November, December, and January of the following Fall Semester; and February, March, April, and May of the Spring Semester.

Students who have attained 3,75 or higher N-CGPA on a 4 point scale become eligible to receive a Merit Scholarship, which amounts to 650 TL per month, covering October, November, December, and January of the following Fall semester; and February, March, April, and May of the Spring Semester.

There are also scholarship opportunities offered to students in return for working in the library, laboratories, IT, sports complexes, dormitories, etc. In order to be eligible for this type of scholarship, not only academic success but also the student’s financial conditions and disciplinary suitability are taken into consideration.

Please note that a non-refundable 850 USD + %5 VAT will be deducted from the student’s account as an administrative charge, and the balance of the refund will be calculated accordingly. No tuition fee refund will be made for applications after on-campus registration. The refund of the dormitory fee and deposit is possible upon the application until the end of the respective semester. However, the 160 USD reservation fee and daily charges that occur until the day of application shall be deducted, and the remaining balance in the student’s account will be refunded.
