  1. Marguerite Ross Barnett Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: August 1st

The Marguerite Ross Barnett Memorial Scholarship is offered annually to legal U.S. Citizens and Missouri residents who are employed while attending school on a part-time basis.

It is a need-based scholarship available to students aged 18 and above who are employed and compensated for at least 20 hours per week and can provide valid evidence of financial need.

The scholarship is meant to take care of the tuition of the recipient in any of the following participating Missouri postsecondary schools: Avila University, Jefferson College, Lindenwood University, and Texas County Technical College where the student is pursuing a degree or certificate that is neither related to theology or divinity.

2. William R. Kimel, P.E., Engineering Scholarship

Deadline: December 1st

This scholarship manages eight merit-based funds, including the William R. Kimel, P.E., Engineering Scholarship is one of eight merit-based funds managed by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE). The scholarship is available for U.S. applicants who plan to pursue a career in any engineering discipline ranging from civil to computer and aeronautical engineering.

The scholarship is valued at $2,500 annually for applicants who must be permanent residents of Kansas or Missouri, be rising in bachelor’s programs for engineering, and attend ABET-accredited universities full-time. Eligible applicants are also expected to be student members of NSPE.

This program suits U.S. citizens in the Midwest who intend to become Professional Engineers in diverse specialties from civil to computer and aeronautical.   1. Purdy Emerging Leaders Scholarship

Deadline: June 15

Established in honor of Alan Walker Purdy in 2010, the Purdy Emerging Leaders Scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors in the US who plan to attend a Missouri public, four-year university or the State Technical College of Missouri.

The scholarship grant is valued from $2,000 to $5,000 annually from the Missouri Scholarship & Loan Foundation (MSLF)

Eligible applicants are Missouri residents who can demonstrate strong academics, leadership skills, work ethic, and financial needs. This includes making satisfactory academic progress with a 3.0 GPA and above at Missouri public four-year or state technical colleges.

4. Missouri Mayflower Society Scholarships

Deadline: March 1, 2022

The Missouri Mayflower Society Scholarship Contest is offered to a high school senior who is a U.S citizen and resident of the State of Missouri and planning to attend an institution of higher learning in the fall of 2022.

Three scholarships will be awarded in 2022 with an amount of $1,500 for 1st place, $1000 for 2nd place, and $500 for 3rd place. The scholarships will be paid directly to the colleges or universities in which the students have enrolled.

5. Missouri Minority Teaching Scholarship

Deadline: June 1st

Administered by the Missouri Department of Higher Education, the Missouri Minority Teaching Scholarship is offered to Missouri residents of African American, Asian, Hispanic, or Native American heritage, especially those who are aspiring math and science teachers.

The scholarship award is worth $3,000 per year up to a period of 4 years amounting to $12,000 in total.

Eligible applicants must be enrolled full-time in an approved teacher education program at a participating community college or four-year college or university in Missouri.

6. Kids’ Chance of Missouri Scholarships

Deadline: May 15/October 30

The Kids’ Chance of Missouri awards about $250,000 in scholarships annually to provide financial support to biological or adopted children of injured employees under the Missouri Workers’ Compensation Law.

Eligible applicants must be graduating high school seniors in Missouri, pursuing post-secondary education at colleges or trade schools, and demonstrate financial need on the Student Aid Report (SAR). Additionally, the applicant must provide valid evidence showing that his/her parent has sustained a serious injury/illness resulting from a work-related accident.

The application deadline is May 15 for Fall & Spring Semester Scholarship and October 30 for the Spring Semester Scholarship annually.

7. Bright Flight Program

Administered by the Missouri Department of Higher Education, the Bright Flight Program offers academic scholarships to Missouri residents with U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.

The scholarship award is worth up to $3,000 per year and the funding is renewable for up to 10 semesters.

No application is required if the student has taken the ACT/SAT exam by the national date in June as the scholarship is automatically based on qualifying test scores.

The Eligible candidate must possess a composite score on the ACT or SAT, rank in the top fifth percentile of all Missouri students in those exams, be enrolled as a full-time student at participating in-state college, and possess a minimum 2.5 GPA in a degree that is not related to theology or divinity.

8. Tortoise Young Entrepreneurs Scholarship

Tortoise Capital Advisors, a Kansas-based investment management firm has since 2016 been offering the Young Entrepreneurs Scholarship for $1,000 to $3,000 in 2016 to encourage and support young entrepreneurs in Kansas and Missouri, where the Tortoise Capital Advisors’ headquarters is situated.

The Tortoise Young Entrepreneurs Scholarship Program awards three annual, non-renewable scholarships valued at $3,000, $2,000, and $1,000 for first, second and third place respectively.

Desired applicants must be residents of Kansas or Missouri, attend or plan to attend a full-time undergraduate course of study toward a bachelor’s degree at a Kansas or Missouri accredited university or college.

The candidate must also have a score of at least 24 on the ACT or 1680 on the Old SAT, and demonstrate entrepreneurial success in a four-year bachelor’s program while possessing an excellent GPA of 3.3 and above.

9. Missouri Torchbearers’ Endowment Scholarship

Deadline: March 1st

Missouri Torchbearers’ Endowment Scholarship is available for students who are pursuing a career in printing technology/management in any of the following U.S. states served by PIA MidAmerica: Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri.

The scholarship award is valued from $500 (freshman) to $2,500 (seniors) annually.

Eligible applicants must be pursuing an accredited printing management or technology program and be permanent residents in one of the four states highlighted above.

10. A+ Scholarship Program

Deadline: March 1

Last on the list of Missouri scholarships for college students is the A+ Scholarship Program. This program provides scholarship funds to eligible graduates of A+ designated high schools who attend a participating public community college or vocational/technical school, or certain private two-year vocational/technical schools

The eligible applicant must be a graduate from designated A+ schools with a 2.5 GPA or better, have at least a 95 percent attendance record for grades 9-12, perform 50 or more hours of unpaid tutoring and mentoring and achieve a minimum ACT Math score of 17 and COMPASS Pre-Algebra score of 43.
