New Brunswick University

The University of New Brunswick is a public university founded by Loyalists fleeing the American Revolution and offering more than 80 undergraduate and graduate programs. It has two primary campuses, located in Fredericton and Saint John, New Brunswick, and has the best student-to-faculty ratios of Canada’s comprehensive universities. It is the oldest English-language university in the country and is committed to providing a positive learning and working environment.

UNB’s original campus was founded in 1785 in Fredericton, and there is a smaller campus opened in Saint John in 1964. Also, there are two small satellite health sciences campuses located in Moncton and Bathurst, New Brunswick, and two offices in the Caribbean and in Beijing. Fredericton, home to the original campus, is located on a hill overlooking the Saint John River and is well known for its colorful fall foliage, Georgian style red-brick buildings, and a very steep hill. It has approximately 9,000 students, while the Saint John campus has 3,000.

On the other hand, the UNB Saint John campus (UNBSJ) is located in Tucker Park in the Millidgeville neighborhood, several kilometers north of the city’s central business district, and has views of the Kennebecasis River and Grand Bay. Saint John Regional Hospital, New Brunswick’s largest health care facility, is located adjacent to the UNBSJ campus. Since 2010, the Saint John campus has been home to Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick, a medical school that operates as a partnership between the Government of New Brunswick, the University of New Brunswick, and Dalhousie’s Faculty of Medicine.

UNB offers over 75 degrees in fourteen faculties at the undergraduate and graduate levels with a total student enrollment of approximately 11,400 between the two principal campuses. In the 2014 Startup Canada Awards, UNB has named the most entrepreneurial university in Canada.

There are more programs, including arts, business administration, computer science, education, engineering, kinesiology, nursing, science, and law. Saint John offers arts, business, science, engineering, and a medical program.

There are over 75 undergraduate programs in UNB while the school of Graduate Studies offers course and research-based programs in over 30 fields.UNB has a 16:1 student-to-faculty ratio.

There are approximately 10,000 students from over 100 countries in UNB. Students have over 125 clubs and societies to choose from between the Fredericton and Saint John campuses and there are 13 residences available to students in Fredericton and two in Saint John. Students on both campuses have access to UNB’s facilities, fitness classes, and outdoor activities such as snowshoeing and kayaking. There are exchanges available in more than 35 countries around the world with over 89 university partners.

New Brunswick University International Scholarships 2021

The New Brunswick University International Scholarships 2021 covers the majority of scholarships – over 450 scholarships and are available to Canadian and international high school applicants who are beginning an undergraduate degree on either campus.

Late applications will be accepted, however, offers to late applicants will be dependent upon available funds.

Scholarship Worth

UNB’s scholarship support ranges from $500 to $100,000. Students will be assessed for scholarship opportunities once they’ve been admitted into an undergraduate degree program. All scholarships will be distributed by April.
