Applications are now open for the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA Scholarship 2022. By this call, NITDA is inviting entries for submission from candidates gunning for Masters (MSc) and Doctorate degrees (PhDs) in relevant areas of Information Technology (IT) obtainable in Nigerian (Government and Private ) Universities across the country.

This scholarship scheme is one of Nigeria’s most prestigious scholarships scheme for Master (MSc) and Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) candidates in relevant fields of information technology and it’s being put together and co-organized by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and Federal Scholarship Board, who has been armed with the mandate to transform Nigeria into an IT-driven economy for global competitiveness and the dire need to bridge the digital divide since its inception in 2010.

This Nobel National scholarship scheme is also known as NITDA Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme simply aims at ensuring proficiency and adaptability in Information Technology at the Masters and Doctorate degree cadre in Nigeria. And at the same time, monitor skill gaps in the field with a view to helping create a capable workforce that can face challenges of the Agency’s vision of Nigeria becoming an Information Technology-driven economy.

Now in its tenth year, NITDA invites young and vibrant Bachelors’ and Masters Degree holders in relevant and related fields of Information Technology in Nigeria to make submissions to the NITDA Scholarship 2022 in order to be considered for the award.

As we all know, the NITDA scholarship 2022 scheme is one of the Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the National Information Technology Development Agency through which they provide financial assistance to vibrant enterprising Nigerian students across the country, exclusive to those residents in Nigeria.

NITDA Scholarships 2022

The Scholarship intervention fund is narrowed down to candidates in the most relevant and related areas of Information Technology (IT) and with time it will widen its tentacles to accommodate prospects from other areas of ICT and other related fields.

The establishment of NITDA scholarship is dated as far back as 2010.

The scholarship is non-discriminatory.

By the reason of establishing affiliations with some institutions outside Nigeria, some enterprising NITDA Scholarship 2022 shortlisted candidates would be sent to study abroad in top global leadership IT labs through international fellowships programs and course exchange basis.

The Master’s program will run for only one year while the Doctorate program is expected to run for three (3) years only. So for those who intend to run a protracted (Ph.D.) program, the bad news is that you will have to fund the cost of the additional years yourself.

The NITDA Scholarship is only available for students who are citizens and residents in Nigeria.

The registration period is usually six (6) weeks from the date of the Newspaper publication, meaning that the NITDA Scholarship deadline for submission of entries is precisely six (6) weeks after the opening date.

NITDA Scholarship Categories

As aforementioned, the NITDA scholarship operates on a dynamic two-tier- level which includes the Masters (MSc) level category and the Doctorate (Ph.D.) Level category respectively.

The Masters (MSc) Level Category

At this level, the NITDA scholarship aims at providing financial aid to Nigerian students pursuing a Masters Degree program in a Federal, State, or private University in Nigeria. However, the Scholarship opportunity is strictly the exclusive reserve of fields of study related to ICT. At this Masters level, the scholarship offers are targeted at two (2) persons per State in the Federation including the FCT. The chances are limited to these available spots.

Eligibility:

•  Applicants must be Nigerian to qualify for entry.
• Candidate must be willing to study in higher institutions whether Federal, State, or Private institutions provided the higher institution is resident in Nigeria.
• Eligible candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelors’s degree or its equivalent in a field related to ICT.
• Candidates must be holders of First Class or Second Class (Upper) Honors Bachelor’s degree, (BSc) in Information Technology related field.
• Candidate must have obtained a qualification in fields related to ICT in their undergraduate degree program.
• Candidate eligible for this scholarship must be currently pursuing a graduate degree program in fields related to ICT.
• A comprehensive aptitude test will be conducted to determine successful candidates for the Award. Please note, only candidates who are found eligible will be shortlisted and communicated accordingly.
• The NITDA Scholarship Award is strictly based on merit and is evenly distributed between the 36 States of the Federation including the FCT.
• Candidates must apply on or before the deadline of the six (6) weeks registration window period given to apply for the scholarship for their application to be considered eligible for selection.

The Doctorate (Ph.D.) Level Category

At this high caliber category level, the Scholarship aims at providing financial aid to Nigerian students who are done with their masters degree program and are now pursuing their Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) program in ICT related fields in a Federal, State or Private University in Nigeria. Nevertheless, the scholarship opportunity is also strictly the exclusive reserve of fields of study related to ICT. At this doctorate level, the scholarship offers are targeted one (1) person per the six (6) Geo-political zone of Nigeria. This time, the chances are very limited to these available spots.

Eligibility:

• Applicants must be Nigerian to qualify for entry.
• Candidate must be willing to study in higher institutions whether Federal, State, or Private institutions provided the higher institution is resident in Nigeria.
• Eligible candidates must possess a minimum of a Masters Degree or its equivalent in a field related to ICT.
• Candidate must have obtained a qualification in fields related to ICT in their undergraduate degree program.
• Only University and Polytechnic Lecturers with Masters Degree (MSc) in any Information Technology related fields are eligible to apply for this NITDA Scholarship Scheme.
• Candidate must have obtained a qualification in fields related to ICT in their graduate degree program.
• Candidate eligible for this scholarship must be currently pursuing a graduate Post-degree program in fields related to ICT.
• A comprehensive aptitude test will be conducted to determine successful candidates for the Award. Please note, only candidates who are found eligible will be shortlisted and communicated accordingly.
