What is the NNPC-TOTAL Scholarship

The NNPC-TOTAL Scholarship is one of the top scholarships for Nigerian undergraduate students. This scholarship has been around for a long time. And it is organized by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation [NNPC] and the Total Upstream Companies in Nigeria [TUCN]. It is also worthwhile stating that whoever wishes to apply for this scholarship, must also be studying at a higher institution, aside from the requirement that they must be a Nigerian.

So how does it work?

Well, the NNPC-TOTAL Scholarship is an annual thing. Every year, the organizers select some Nigerian students to sponsor their education. And these students are selected based on merit.

To become one of the students who’d stand the chance to get sponsored, you first have to apply, when registration for the scholarship is open. But before applying, there are some things you need to have. And among these things you’d need, is a bank account.

The reason why you’d need a bank account is that if you’re are selected, the organizers would credit your bank account. And for those who’ve been thinking they’d collect the money in cash, this would never happen. The organizers have stated they would never give money in cash.

It is also important to state that the organizers of this scholarship would not send any money to an account that doesn’t belong to the winner of the scholarship. In other words, you just have to open a bank account, to apply for this scholarship.

And during the registration, you would be asked to provide a bunch of information. Information you would be asked would include things like your name, your contact info, state of origin, university, email, phone, bank account details, and many more.

But for you to apply, there are other requirements. And these requirements include:

1. Only 100L and 200L students can apply: The NNPC-TOTAL Scholarship is not only for Nigerians studying in Nigeria. This scholarship also happens to be meant for only students who are in 100L and 200L, when the scholarship application commences. If you happen to be in 300L, 400L, or 500L, forget ever being selected as a beneficiary of the scholarship. And don’t think you can lie to the organizers. They would request documents that would help prove your true level. In other words, don’t even waste your time, if you’re not a 100L or 200L student.

2. Up to 50 percent in result: Before even thinking of applying for the NNPC-TOTAL Scholarship, the first thing you have to ensure, is that you have at least 50 percent in the result you’re using to apply. If you happen to be a 100 level student who hasn’t seen their first semester result, you can use your UTME result. And if you choose to use your UTME result, it’s very important that the score isn’t less than 200.
