1. The Federal Pell Grant

To be eligible for this grant, applicants’ family must make some contributions known as EFC (Expected family contribution) on the FAFSA (which must range between $0 and $5,487), cost of attendance, enrollment status, and quarters of attendance. Scholarship range is between $652 – $6,095 for full-time enrollment.

2. Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

An alternative to the Federal Pell Grant, The SEOG supplements financial aid beyond the Federal Pell Grant. Students who demonstrate high need are considered for this assistance if they are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant. Scholarship award range is between $100 – $4,000 but strictly based on student need and availability of funding.

3. Illinois Monetary Award Program (MAP)

 This scholarship grant is strictly available for Illinois residents. To be eligible for this grant, the student must reside in Illinois and must also meet the following conditions :

  • Applicant must be enrolled at least half-time at an approved Illinois post-secondary institution
  • Applicant must have completed their FAFSA by the state’s deadline
  • Able to demonstrate financial need
  • Meet other Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) criteria.

The Illinois Monetary Award Program grants a Maximum of $5,340 for full-time enrollment.

It should be noted that Illinois residents who are unable to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (qualifying undocumented and transgender students) will need to complete the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid to determine their eligibility for the Illinois Monetary Award Program.
