The applications for the PSU Scholarships begin from the 1st of October to the 1st of February every year. After your application, you will receive the notification of the result by May, at the email address you used to apply. 

However, if you are not fortunate to qualify for a scholarship, you will receive a notification by June. 

Portland State University Scholarship Application Procedure

Moving on to applying for the Portland scholarships, go through the PSU online Scholarship Application portal. Although, note that the platform is for general and college-specific scholarships. 

If you are a new user, create an account in the portal. While returning users, log in with their existing profile details.

When you are on the portal, select a scholarship that you are eligible for and click “Start Application” There are more than 400 scholarships in the PSU Scholarship Database. You can search through the database to find out the available scholarships. More so, to make it easier for you, you can use the filter to search based on descriptions, keywords, categories, or even names.

Most of the PSU scholarships are for full-time enrollments per term. They do not accommodate part-time arrangements. However, if you must enroll for less than full time, you have to contact the department that awards the scholarship to determine if they are still eligible to receive the award.

Portland State University International Scholarships

Here are some of the International scholarships from Portland State University. 

1. International Achievement Scholarship

The International Achievement Scholarship is for new international undergraduates due to their academic performance. More so, students that maintain high academic grades are up for automatic consideration for the scholarship at the period of admission. This particular portland State University Scholarship is worth between $3,000 to $10,000 per academic year. 

Requirements for International Achievement Scholarship

The following are the minimum requirements for the International Achievement Scholarship;

• You are required to have an equivalent grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.25 based on a 4.0 grading scale.
• If you are a student sponsored by any state entity or an outside organization, you may not qualify for the award. In addition, there is an exemption for specific university-level partnerships from eligibility. 
• The scholarship is strictly for new admission applicants only. Therefore, students already enrolled at Portland state university are not qualified to apply for the international achievement scholarship. You are also not eligible for an increase in an award amount after admission. 
• You have to be a non-resident for the tuition classification status.
• Finally, you are eligible if you have not yet passed the TOEFL/English Language Proficiency test. However, the scholarship will remain unactivated until there is no restriction on English as a Second Language (ESL), and you are eligible for non-restricted enrollment. 

Note that there are also no separate applications required. 

2. Fulbright Matching Grant

Fulbright scholars enrolling in Portland State University have the opportunity to benefit from the Fulbright Matching Grant. The scholarship is a renewable grant available to graduate-level Fulbright Scholars starting a program in PSU. However, the grant award is not available to aspiring undergraduate students. 

Similar to the International Achievement scholarship, there is no separate application form needed for this grant. The grant award is worth up to $4,500 of Fulbright sponsorship for each academic year of the degree program. Besides, Portland State waives the admission application fee for Fulbright scholars. And also, the scholarship applies to the PSU instructional fees in each term of enrollment.

3. International Student Services Scholarships

The following are scholarships from the Office of International Student and Scholar Services; 

• International Cultural Service Program
• International Student Retention Scholarship
• Keith Morden Memorial Scholarship 

4. International Cultural Service Program

The International Cultural Service Program (ICSP) is a grant specifically for F-1 international students. The ICSP students spend 90 hours each academic year giving presentations about their cultures to the local audience in the Portland area. The selected beneficiaries of this grant receive $3,250 per term in fee remission.

5. International Student Retention Scholarship (ISRS)

First, international students applying for the ISRS must need financial help. Then, they must also define their academic and professional clearly. 6. Keith Morden Memorial Scholarship

The Keith Morden Memorial Scholarship is available for applications. More so, the grant is only eligible to graduating seniors in their penultimate term of study at Port State University. Unlike the ICSP and ISRS, the amount for the grant award for Keith Modern Memorial School varies.
