Posse
Posse is based on the belief that a small, diverse group of talented students—a Posse—carefully chosen and trained, can serve as a catalyst for individual and community development. It works for both students and college campuses.
The United States, being an increasingly multicultural society, believes that the key to a promising future for the nation rests on the ability of strong leaders from different backgrounds to develop consensus solutions to complex social problems. Posse’s primary goal is to train these leaders of tomorrow.

The Posses scholarship gives the selected students access to one of the few four-year full-tuition leadership scholarships. Typically, the price is for high school students who are looking to start their academic journey.
Although the benefits of the Posse academic scholarship are numerous, the price of the scholarship does not cover all the expenses the students will incur in the process of their studying. Posse Foundation Scholarship 2022 Program Components
Posse’s four program components are designed to ensure each scholar’s success. Posse support helps scholars excel at school, win competitive internships and. After graduation, many alumni are hired for top jobs or admitted to elite graduate programs.
1. The Dynamic Assessment Process
Posse’s Dynamic Assessment Process (DAP) is a unique evaluation method designed to identify young leaders with great potential.
DAP runs from September through December each year and helps find students who can excel on campus but might be missed by the traditional admissions criteria at highly selective schools. It uses nontraditional forums to evaluate potential, offering nominated students an opportunity to demonstrate their skill at working in a team setting, their intrinsic leadership ability, and their motivation and drive to succeed.
DAP has proven to be an extremely effective tool by using the three-part process, which includes individual and group interviews. Posse staff and partner college administrators use this to ultimately select a diverse group of 10 students — a Posse — for each institution.
2. Pre-Collegiate Training
Posse’s Pre-Collegiate Training (PCT) helps scholars grow as leaders before they matriculate at college.
In their senior year in high school, from January to August, newly selected Scholars meet weekly with Posse peers and staff for two-hour workshops that address four areas:
- Academic excellence
- Team building and group support
- Cross-cultural communication
- Leadership and becoming an active agent of change
3. The Campus Program
The purpose of the four-year Campus Program is to increase the impact of the program on campus and ensure the retention of Posse Scholars.
Every year, Posse staff visit each school four times for meetings with campus liaisons, Scholars, and mentors. During a Posse’s first two years on campus, Scholars meet with their mentor weekly individually or as a group every two weeks.
In the spring, Posse facilitates a weekend-long PossePlus Retreat for each of its partner schools. Attended by members of the faculty, student body, and administration, PossePlus Retreats explore an important social issue identified by Scholars.
4. The Career Program
The Career Program connects Posse alumni and Scholars to highly coveted professional development opportunities.
By partnering with industry-leading organizations and companies and establishing affiliations with first-tier professional and graduate schools, the Career Program gives Scholars tools to secure competitive internships and leadership-track jobs in a wide range of fields.
The Career Program has five components:
- Internships
- Career Development Workshops
- Career Coaching
- Graduate + Fellowship Programs
- The Alumni Network
