About University of Idaho

The University of Idaho is a public university founded in 1889 and located in Moscow, Idaho, USA. It is usually referred to as the U of I or UIdaho. It is a historical university – the state’s only university for 71 years.

The University of Idaho has a total undergraduate enrollment of 9,885. It is the primary research university in Idaho and thus has the largest campus in the state at 1,585 acres.

With one hundred and forty-two (142) programs offering bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and specialists’ degrees, UIdaho is a notable college. Programs in the school range from accountancy to wildlife resources and you get certificates of completion in 30 areas of study.

Also, U of I has a graduation rate of 25% for its four-year programs and 53% for its six-year programs. This is the highest graduation rate by universities in Idaho.

While the school’s main campus is in Moscow, it also has branch campuses in Coeur d’Alene, Boise, Twin Falls, and Idaho Falls.

U of I Scholarships and Aid 2022

The University of Idaho provides scholarships and aid to further subsidize the tuition fees of students studying in the university. This is run so naturally that by merely gaining admission to the college, you are qualified for funding. Thus, you don’t require a separate scholarship application to be eligible for institutional aid.

Undergraduate Scholarships

The list of scholarships here is for undergraduate students from a state different from Idaho.

To apply for these scholarships, home school students, students from non-accredited high schools should contact the school’s Student Financial Aid Services. Also, these students must have the required GED scores.

Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)

This University of Idaho scholarship is available to freshmen of the university. The value of the scholarship is 150% of the University of Idaho in-state tuition, which is $15,084 for the 2019-2020 academic year. In addition, the eligible states include Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Oregon.

South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) are also eligible for this scholarship.

This scholarship recognizes new, first-time undergraduate students from the WUE states with academic merit. Also, it pays a portion of non-resident tuition expenses. Therefore, for students with a GPA of 3.9 – 4.0, the value of the scholarship is $8,000.

In addition, students with a GPA of 3.75 – 3.899 gets $6,000; 3.4 – 3.749 gets $5,000; and 3.0 – 3.399 gets $2,000.

National Merit

This is a fully-funded scholarship that covers the University of Idaho tuition and fees, as well as housing and meals in a U of I residence hall for four years. However, it is available to all National Merit Finalists who declare the University of Idaho as their first choice institution.

Diversity Scholarships

Technology Access Grants

This award is provided by the Center for Health in the Human Ecosystem. It is available to U of I investigators interested in using the IVIS Imaging Service Center for research. This fellowship is available to U of I graduates with a technical background and an understanding of US energy systems or advanced degrees in a related field.
