Welch College, formerly the Free Will Baptist Bible College, is a private four-year college in Gallatin, Tennessee, founded in 1942. It is one of several higher learning institutions associated with the National Association of Free Will Baptists.

Welch College is both regionally and nationally accredited and is a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). It is approved by the Tennessee State Department of Education to offer degrees leading to teacher education licensure in grades PreK-12. The college is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate and baccalaureate degrees.

Welch College serves 385 students (2017) and is the national college of the 300,000-member Free Will Baptist denomination.

The mission of Welch College is to educate leaders to serve Christ, His Church, and His world through Biblical thought and life, which is why many students choose to study at Welch.

CAMPUS

Welch College is located in the greater Nashville, Tennessee, area of Gallatin at 1045 Bison Trail. The university transitioned to its new campus in Gallatin in March 2017, leaving its old campus on West End Avenue in Nashville.

The Gallatin campus provides for increased enrollment, meets the needs of the physically challenged, and provides space for student recreation and athletic activities—all important elements for a complete campus experience.

WELCH COLLEGE PROGRAMS

The college offers Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Music Education degree programs. Two- and three-year associate degree programs are also offered as well as a Master of Arts in Theology. There are also college scholarships offered by this school to both national and international students.

WELCH COLLEGE ACCOMMODATION

This is a Christian institution, thus the mode of the accommodation of this institution is structured in a way that residents would meet each other often and interact with each other in a way that will guarantee that the spiritual life of the residents would always be in check. It runs a dormitory-style accommodation where interaction and meeting people is a core characteristic.

This is not a conventional university on the basis that it has its values spelled out.  Postgraduate degree courses are concentrated on theology, and core arts, and other related fields. Graduate programs range from theology, ministry, and teaching.

Welch College Scholarships 2022

Scholarships opportunities at Welch offer the students the privilege to pursue their studies in the college on a subsidized tuition plan and in some scholarships have complete tuition-free studies. These scholarships range from $200 to $10,000.

Scholarships are awarded to those who are admitted to Welch College, so the sooner you apply, the sooner we can award you your scholarship. Some of these scholarships include;

Legacy Award

This $2,500 per year award is available to students whose fathers are the primary pastors of a Free Will Baptist church, full-time Free Will Baptist International, and North American Missionaries. 

Eligible students must also meet the following criteria: live at home with parents who provide at least half of the students’ support, are under 24 years of age-plan to live in one of Welch College’s dormitories-plan to register for a minimum of 12 hours per semester.

SPOUSE SCHOLARSHIP

The wife or husband of a full-time student (taking 12 hours or more at full tuition) may register at half tuition for up to an equal amount of hours.

TIPPETT ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP

The Bert and Dianne Tippett Alumni Scholarship is awarded each year to a child or grandchild of a Welch College Alumnus.

ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are granted to students selected by the College administration. Need, academic achievement, and character are considered in selecting the recipients. Please note that not all scholarships are funded each year.
