The Swedish Institute

The Swedish Institute is a government agency in Sweden responsible for spreading information about Sweden outside the country. The institute promotes Swedish interests and organizes exchanges with other countries in different areas of public life, in particular in the spheres of education, culture, and research.

The main office of the Swedish Institute is in Gamla stan in central Stockholm and the branch abroad is in the Swedish Cultural Centre in Paris. The agency board is appointed by the Government of Sweden and has approximately 90 members of staff.

In early 2007 the Swedish Institute stated it was planning to set up an “embassy”, the “House of Sweden”, in Second Life, an Internet-based virtual world. This virtual office is intended to serve as a point of information about Sweden and not to provide passports or visas.

Other Swedish embassies in foreign countries are under the direct authority and control of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Only one scholarship application must be submitted for all the eligible master’s programs that you applied for at universityadmissions.se. It means, in one scholarship application, you can apply for SI scholarships for up to four eligible master’s programs that you applied at universityadmissions.se. However, you should create and submit an additional scholarship application separately for the master’s program (s) at SSE if you have also applied for a master’s program (s) at Stockholm School of Economics (SSE). You only need to submit one scholarship application for all the master’s programs you applied for at SSE if you only want to apply for SI scholarships for master’s program (s).

Each scholarship application should have only one of each required document attached, no matter how many master’s programs you applied for. If you have applied at both universityadmissions.se and SSE, you should attach all the required documents in both the scholarship applications.
