How to Write a Good Scholarship Recommendation Letter in 2022

The need to write a good scholarship recommendation letter in 2022 is a thing you’d likely encounter, if you’re a teacher, lecturer, principal, etc. And if writing a good recommendation letter is what brought you here, then you have come to the right place.

good scholarship recommendation letter in 2021

In this article, I’d be providing you with important information you’d need to know, about writing a good recommendation letter in 2022. In other words, by the time you’re done reading this content, your recommendation letter writing skills should have improved massively. So let’s get into it.

What makes a good scholarship recommendation letter?

Before delving into the details of how to write a good scholarship recommendation letter, it’s important to first understand what makes a recommendation letter good. So if you ask, what makes a good scholarship recommendation letter? Well, I’d simply say that it’s all about writing in line with what the recipient of the letter would like to hear.

Take, for instance, imagine a scholarship organizer who is trying to award scholarships to students who are capable of making an impact on their community. If you’re to write a recommendation letter for such a scholarship, it wouldn’t make much sense to write solely on a student’s financial condition and how his father always beat him up. What would rather make sense, is to write about how the student seems like someone who can make great discoveries and how the student has the spirit of carrying people along.

In short, the first step to writing a good scholarship recommendation letter is understanding what the scholarship is all about, then writing in line with what the organizers would like to hear.

Structure of a good scholarship recommendation letter in 2022

Now that you understand the first step about how to write a good scholarship recommendation letter, the next step is to write the letter. But before jumping into the writing, there’s one thing you should note: there are some guidelines usually used for writing scholarship recommendation letters. And the following are the guidelines:

1. Limit your writing to 300 – 500 words: While there’s is no law that states scholarship recommendation letters should be between 300 and 500 words, it makes sense to follow this guideline. A scholarship recommendation letter that follows this guideline should long enough to convince a scholarship organizer. It would also be short enough to prevent the reader from getting bored and annoyed.

In short, while it’s allowed for your recommendation letter to be outside the range provided, ensure you have a good reason for writing a letter shorter or longer if you decide to write outside the range.

2. Make use of 4 paragraphs: When trying to write a good scholarship recommendation letter, it is also recommended to make it a 4-paragraph letter. It’s allowed not to follow this guideline, but 4-paragraph recommendation letters have proven to be better than recommendation letters having less than 4 or more than 4 paragraphs.

And usually, the first paragraph should be the introductory paragraph, the second and the third paragraph should try to back up the introductory paragraph, while the last paragraph should conclude the letter.

Good scholarship recommendation letter sample

By now, you should have an idea of how to write a good scholarship recommendation letter, and the next thing to do is to try to practice, before writing the official letter. But before jumping into practice, I feel it would make some sense to write you a sample of a good scholarship recommendation letter.

John Alex Stanzvern

Computer Studies Teacher

The XYZ High School

1 Cane Street

Bridgetown, CA, 90210

Dear Sir/Madam,

I write this letter to endorse Jane Doe as a good candidate for the ABC scholarship. I had the opportunity to teach Jane computer studies for three academic sessions. And during that period the girl managed to rank as the most impressive student I’ve seen in my teaching career. The girl has a remarkable ability to understand things. She starts with understanding things at a very fundamental level, then builds upon them, until she completely understands how things work at large.

During her senior year, I had to teach her class computer architecture. This class has always been one of the most difficult for senior students. But within a very short period, Jane developed a very solid understanding of computer architecture. And she did this with the help of only a little explanation from me. In fact, she went ahead to design her own computer architecture, a thing none of my senior students has ever done.

Furthermore, after seeing her design a computer architecture, I had the feeling she’d also be to do some impressive work on operating systems, and she didn’t fail to impress me. During the summer holiday, I and Jane designed what I’d call the most impressive OS I’ve ever seen. In fact, I’ve shared the OS with my friends in the industry, and they all seem unable to stop talking about it. And a lot of thanks to Jane, for the ideas and programming efforts she invested in the development of the OS.

In short, based on what I’ve learned about the ABC Scholarship Program, I sincerely believe Jane to be a great candidate for the program. She is the kind of student your program is designed to help. And I’m quite confident you’d be glad about a decision to sponsor her.

Sincerely,

Mr. John Alex Stanzvern

What I have discussed above, is basically how to write a good scholarship recommendation letter. It’s nothing difficult, so don’t stress yourself out. However, before sending out the letter, ensure that you proofread the letter before sending it. In fact, I’d recommend you proofread with the help of proofreading tools, to further eliminate errors a human might miss. And if you’d like me to recommend you a proofreading tool, you can try Spellogram [if you’re using an Android phone or the Chrome OS]. As for people using other platforms, you can try out Grammarly.

Scholarship and Grant in 2022

The relationship between Scholarship vs Grant is a very close one. These two terms are very similar. And it isn’t uncommon to see people use “grant” in place of “scholarship” and “scholarship” in place of “grant”. Read on to know the difference between Scholarship and grant in 2022.

Scholarship and grant in 2021

So if understanding the differences between these two words, is what brought you here, then you’re reading the right article. And by the time you’re done reading this content, you should have developed a pretty good understanding of the differences between the two words.

Scholarship and Grant in 2022

First and foremost, a scholarship is a form of financial aid meant for the education of an individual. But unlike loans, the money offered through a scholarship does not have to be refunded. In other words, a scholarship is just like receiving a free sum of money for your education.

You should, however, note that scholarships are generally based on merit. In other words, if you have a poor academic performance, you’d find a lot of scholarships you wouldn’t be able to get.

As for the grant, a grant is also a form of financial aid. It also isn’t something you’d have to pay back. In other words, when given a grant, you wouldn’t have to worry about paying it back after graduating. In short, a grant can also be seen as someone giving you some amount of money for free, to take care of your educational needs.

However, unlike scholarships that are generally based on merit, grants do not necessarily take academic performance into considerations. Grants are more concerned about ensuring you can receive education, regardless of your academic performance. In other words, if you’re a student with a low CGPA, you have higher chances of winning grants, compared to scholarships.

While the things discussed in the previous paragraphs account for the major differences between scholarships and grants, the rest of this article would be providing some good scholarship examples.

Scholarship vs Grant in 2022: Scholarship Examples

1 Kansas State University Global Diversity Scholarship

The Kansas State University Global Diversity Scholarship is a good example of what a scholarship looks like. This form of financial aid is open to students from every country of the world, aside from the United States. And the exclusion of US students shouldn’t come as a surprise, because the scholarship is meant for US students.

You should also be aware of the fact that it doesn’t matter what course you’re studying at the university, you are eligible for the scholarship.

However, while the scholarship is open for undergraduate students, it is not open to graduate students. In other words, Master and Ph.D. students are not allowed to apply for the scholarship. The Kansas State University Global Diversity Scholarship has no fixed value. But what I can tell is that it provides partial funding.

For more info, visit the university’s official website.

2 Bruce Lee Foundation Scholarship

The Bruce Lee Foundation Scholarship is another good example of what a scholarship looks like. And as the name implies, the scholarship is sponsored by the Bruce Lee Foundation. This scholarship program has been around for a while and a good number of students win this scholarship every year.

Unlike the Kansas State University Global Diversity Scholarship, the Bruce Lee Foundation Scholarship is open to both Bachelor and Master students. The scholarship furthermore isn’t one of those limited to people studying specific courses at the university. In other words, it doesn’t matter what course you’re studying, you’d be given equal consideration as every other student.

As of the time of writing this content, application for the Bruce Lee Foundation Scholarship has closed, but nothing stops you from waiting for the next edition of the scholarship.

3 AIWA Lucy Kasparian Aharonian Scholarship

The AIWA Lucy Kasparian Aharonian Scholarship is another scholarship we have had around for a while. This scholarship is sponsored by the Armenian International Women’s Association [AIWA], a non-profit organization. But unlike the Kansas State University Global Diversity Scholarship and the Bruce Lee Foundation Scholarship, this scholarship is more restricted. For you to be considered for this scholarship, you have to be a female. But not just that, you’d also have to be of an American descendant.

However, it doesn’t matter if you’re a Bachelor student or Master student, you’d be considered. Ph.D. students would also be considered if they apply. But before applying, ensure your program is related to any of the following: Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, and Architecture; this also applies to Bachelor and Master students.

You can find more info on the Armenian International Women’s Association [AIWA] official website.

4 Japan America Society Of Minnesota [JASM] – Mondale Scholarship

The Japan America Society Of Minnesota [JASM] – Mondale Scholarship is also an example of what a scholarship looks like. This scholarship has also been around for a while, and some so many students have benefited from this scholarship. As you would expect, the Japan America Society Of Minnesota [JASM] – Mondale Scholarship is open to Bachelor students. It, however, isn’t open to Master and Ph.D. students.

To benefit from this scholarship, you have to be studying at any of the three institutions: Minnesota Colleges, the University of North Dakota, and the North Dakota State University. You should furthermore be aware of the fact that preference would be given to students studying things related to the Japanese culture.

Closing

To conclude this article, the differences between Scholarship vs Grant boils down to merit. While scholarships are generally awarded based on academic performance, grants are generally awarded based on how much you need financial aid. In other words, if you’re struggling financially and also have a poor academic performance, you stand a better chance of getting a grant, compared to getting a scholarship.

How to Get Scholarships with a Low GPA in 2022

For you to be reading this article, you must probably be under the assumption that winning a scholarship requires good academic performance, but this can’t be further from the truth. Read on to know how to get scholarships with a low GPA in 2022.

While there’s no doubt about the fact that many scholarships require excellent academic performance, not all of them do. In fact, those who require excellent academic performance are less than 40 percent of all scholarships out there. So to put it in other words, having a low GPA doesn’t mean you can’t apply for most scholarships. You just have to limit your application to those scholarships which are not based on academic performance. And in this article, on how to get scholarships with a low GPA in 2022, I’d be presenting some good scholarship programs you can consider.

How to Get Scholarships with a Low GPA in 2022

1 Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship Program – by the US Department of State

The Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship Program is a very good scholarship program. It has been around for a while, and thousands of students benefit from this program every year. Being a little more elaborate, the Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship Program sponsors about 3,000 students every year. And each student can win as much as $5,000.

You should, however, note that not just anyone can apply for this scholarship. Because the scholarship program is sponsored by the US Department of State, you have to be a US citizen, to be eligible for the scholarship. You should also note that the scholarship is meant for students who’d like to study outside the US. And scholarships offered under this program are not things you can renew.

As you would expect, the scholarship is not necessarily based on academic excellence.

2 BMI Future Jazz Master Scholarship

The BMI Future Jazz Master Scholarship is also a good scholarship not really requiring academic excellence. But as the names imply, the scholarship is meant for college students who are into music.

Talking about the sponsor of this scholarship, BMI happens to be one of the leading companies in the music industry. This company has been around for several decades, and it has enjoyed remarkable success.

So to get the chance of winning this scholarship, you have to be interested in music. But not any music, you need to be interested in Jazz.

If you meet up with the first requirement, the next thing to ask yourself is if you’re up to 17 years of age. The scholarship is meant for people over 17 years of age. In other words, don’t waste your time if you’re not up to this age. But that’s not all. Another requirement you have to meet up with is that you shouldn’t be over 24 years of age. Students who are 24 years and above wouldn’t also be considered.

As regards the value of scholarships offered under this program, scholarships offered under this program have values of over $5,000.

3 Cappex Easy College Money Scholarship

Here comes another scholarship that doesn’t necessarily require a good GPA, the Cappex Easy College Money Scholarship. This scholarship is sponsored by an organization in the US, which provides information about education, to students. The organization is quite popular and scholarships offered usually carry a value of $1,000.

You should, however, be aware of the fact that winners of this scholarship are selected at random.

4 Coca-Cola Scholars Program – Coca-Cola and Phi Theta Kappa

Next on our list of scholarships you can get, without having a high GPA, is the program Coca-Cola Scholars Program. This program is also one of those that have been around for several decades. Since 1984, the program has been offering scholarships to hundreds of students.

This program is stated to offer about 150 scholarships yearly. And as of the time of writing this content, over $100 million worth of scholarships get given out yearly. In short, if you’re struggling financially and have a low GPA, you can still get scholarships with a Low GPA, thanks to this program.

You should, however, understand that preference would be given to students who have engaged or do engage in one form of community service or the other.

Scholarships offered by this program have no specific value. But generally, the scholarships are of high value.

5 Corinne Jeannine Schillings Foundation Scholarship

Next on our list, is the Corinne Jeannine Schillings Foundation Scholarship. This scholarship came into existence, about a decade ago, after Corinne Jeannine Schillings lost her life in a tragic boat accident. Corinne Jeannine Schillings who happened to be a Silver Award Girl Scout and foreign language major passed away, alongside her finance, in Baltimore’s inner harbor. In other words, this scholarship is meant to honor her.

To win this scholarship, you’d have to be a Silver Award Girl Scout and you also have to be a foreign language major. Since the award came into existence, over 250 students have been awarded the scholarship. The scholarship generally carries a value of $1,500, and it can be renewed 3 times. However, renewal of the scholarship might require you to have a good GPA.

If you’re a Silver Award Girl Scout and foreign language major, you should really consider applying for the scholarship.

6 Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway

The Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway is another great scholarship worthy of being included in this article on how to get scholarships with a low GPA. The scholarship has been around since 2008, and they have up to $100,000 in value.

The scholarship is meant for people who have the potential to make a positive impact in their communities. In other words, if you’re a student who dreams of doing things that would help a lot of lives in their community, you shouldn’t ignore this scholarship.

The scholarship doesn’t involve any exams. What you’d rather be asked to do, is to write about that dream you have. You’d also be asked to create a video about it. And this should not be a difficult thing.

The above are just some examples of scholarships you can win with a low GPA in 2022. There are still many other scholarships out there you can also win with a low GPA.

OWWA Scholarships Scheme for Filipino Students 2022

Filed in Scholarships by Countries, Scholarships by Subjects by on 4th December 2021 1 Comment

The OWWA Scholarships Scheme for Filipino students 2022 is a scholarship program sponsored by the Overseas Workers Welfare Association. It has often been ranked as one of the best scholarship programs for Filipino students.

In other words, if finding a scholarship for a dependent of an OWWA member is what brought you here, then you have come to the right place. In this article, I’d be providing info about the scholarship sub-programs of the OWWA Scholarships Scheme.

OWWA Scholarships Scheme for Filipino students 2021

Sub-programs of the OWWA Scholarships Scheme for Filipino Students 2022. Education for Development Scholarship Program [EDSP]

The Education for Development Scholarship Program [EDSP] is the best sub-program of the OWWA Scholarships Scheme. Scholarships of this sub-program are stated to have values of PHP 60,000. And if you’re pretty good at your academics, you stand a very good chance of being awarded a scholarship under this sub-program. But what are all the requirements? Well, here we go:

Requirement 1: You must be a dependent of an OWWA member. Without meeting up this requirement, you wouldn’t be considered for this scholarship.

You should also note that the dependents of former OWWA members would not be considered.

Requirement 2: If you happen to be in your first year in school, you must be single and not more than 21 years of age. However, for students who happen to be in their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th year, you must also be single, but not more than 30 years of age.

Requirement 3: Another important requirement is that you must be pretty good at your academics. In other words, you have at least 80 percent of the total grades at high school.

You must furthermore rank among the top 20 percent of all graduating students.

In addition, you’re expected to rank among the top 400 examination passers of the qualifying exam conducted by the DOST.

As for students who are in their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th year, the method of proving your academic excellence is quite different. To prove your academic excellence, you’d be expected to have a GWA not less than B. Or if your school doesn’t use letters to indicate grades, you’d be expected to have 85 percent of the total points of your previous academic session.

While the things I have listed above, are the requirements for winning a scholarship under this program, the following are the documents you’d be expected to provide.

  • A filled out EDSP Form [Two copies]
  • 2 x 2 passport photographs [Two copies]
  • PSA-authenticated birth certificate
  • Good moral character certificate [From your high school Principal]
  • Form 137: for incoming students OR Transcript of Records/Certificate of Grades: for students in their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th year.
  • Certificate of a general weighted average (GWA) from the Principal of your high school. This certificate should show that you have at least 80 percent of your high school grade and that you also finished as one of the top 20 percent.

Application for this scholarship is currently ongoing, and we have little or no idea as to when the application would come to an end.

2. OFW Dependent Scholarship Program [ODSP]

If for one reason or the other, you do not qualify for the Education for Development Scholarship Program [EDSP], you should consider the OFW Dependent Scholarship Program [ODSP]. This scholarship carries a value of PHP 20,000. And it is meant for dependents who are not so good at academics and have guardians who do not have salaries higher than $600.

The following are details of the requirements needed to be awarded this scholarship:

Requirement 1: The first requirement needed to be considered for this scholarship is that you must be the child or sibling of an OWWA member. In other words, not just any dependent would be considered by this scholarship program.

Requirement 2: The second requirement is that you must not be more than 21 years of age. But not only that, you are expected to be single. This doesn’t mean you can’t have a girlfriend. It’s just that you cannot get married before being awarded the scholarship.

You should, however, note that the info provided above applies to only first-year students. For students who are past their first year, you can be married, but you must not be over 30 years of age. If you’re already over 30 years of age, then you aren’t eligible for this scholarship.

Requirement 3: This requirement simply states that anyone who would be considered for this scholarship, should not already be the recipient of another scholarship. In other words, the OFW Dependent Scholarship Program [ODSP] is not a scholarship you can combine with some other scholarship. If you’d like to combine scholarships, then this scholarship is not meant for someone like you.

While the things discussed above are the requirements for being considered for the OFW Dependent Scholarship Program [ODSP], the following are the documents you’d be expected to present:

  • A filled out ODSP form
  • Two 2 x 2 passport photographs
  • Proof of relationship to OWWA member [This could be any credible document [or set of documents] that can prove you’re related to the OWWA member.
  • Form 137: for incoming students OR Transcript of Records/Certificate of Grades: for students in their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th years.
  • A medical report showing you’re in a good health condition
  • Good moral character certificate [From your high school Principal]

Application for this scholarship can be done at any time, so there’s nothing like application opening and closing date.

Dr Pepper Scholarship 2021

Dr. Pepper Scholarship Requirements

The Dr Pepper Scholarship is a scholarship meant for United States residents. And the following are the requirements:

Requirement 1: The first requirement for anyone who wishes to apply for the Dr Pepper scholarship is that they must be at least 18 years of age. They also shouldn’t be over 24 years of age.

The previous edition of the scholarship stated that applicants must be between this age range, as of the time the application commenced. And it’s very likely the same thing would happen in the upcoming edition.

Requirement 2: Another requirement you have to satisfy, to be considered for this scholarship is that you must not be related to anyone working for the organizers. In other words, if your dad, mum, grandfather, grandmother, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, cousin, or niece happen to be working for the organizer of this scholarship, then you are not eligible for the scholarship. If you don’t meet up this requirement, don’t make the mistake of thinking the organizer wouldn’t find out.

Dr. Pepper Scholarship Application process 2022

Once you meet up with the requirements, the next thing to do is to apply. How do you apply?

Step 1: Create a profile on the scholarship’s page.

Creating a profile would require providing some basic information about yourself. You’d have to provide your name, email, and other basic information about yourself.

When providing these pieces of information, ensure you don’t make mistakes. Mistakes could disqualify you from being considered. In other words, before submitting any information you provide, cross-check what you have provided, just in case you make some mistakes.

Step 2: The next step is to write about your life goal.

Almost everyone has a life goal. Some people’s goal may be to transform their developing country into a developed country. Some people may desire to improve the quality of music education all over the world. Some people may dream of creating portable technologies that make it possible to have access to clean water, at little or no cost.

In short, if your life goal is the kind capable of changing the lives of many people, then you should write it out in an interesting way. Make what you write as clear as possible, to increase your chances of winning the scholarship. Whatever you write out should not be more than 350 words long.

Step 3: Create a video explaining your goal, once again.

The organizers may not tell you this: the point of creating a video is to see how confident you are about the goal. They want to see if you’re capable of accomplishing those big goals you talked about. There are so many body language cues they’d be picking up from the video. So when creating the video, try as much as possible to be confident.

You should, of course, dress decently. And lastly, your video has to be inspiring. The video has to be created in such a way that when the organizers watch it, they’d really want to invest in you. You should also try to talk about your academic excellence.

However, when creating the video, there are some things you have to note. For instance, whatever video you create shouldn’t be more than 60 seconds in length. The video shouldn’t also exceed 50 MB in size. Video formats allowed are: .avi, .mov, .mpg, .mp4, .mpeg, and .wmv. That’s not all, you should also speak English in the video and ensure the video is suitable for publication.

I’m yet to be admitted into a college or University, Can I still apply?

Yes, you can. People who are between the ages of 18 and 24 [inclusive], can apply for the scholarship, even if they are yet to be admitted into a college or university. But understand that the money of the scholarship would only be given to you when you gain admission into a college or university. And it doesn’t really matter how long it takes before you get into a college, you’d be given the amount won, once you get admitted.

Centennial College Tuition

Centennial College Tuition 2022

The structure of Centennial college tuition is based on the type of students, local or international, and the program of study. The categories of the fees are basic tuition fees and ancillary tuition fees.

Basic Tuition Fees

A brief overview of Centennial college tuition is as follows:

  • International students offering Nursing programs pay an average of $26000 yearly while the locals pay about $6000.

Apprenticeship Tuition Fees

Apprentices pay Apprenticeship fees to the college for training. The fee is about $2000 which varies slightly depending on the apprenticeship training being offered and it is for Canadian students only.

Centennial College Cost of Living

Housing Options

Centennial college tuition for housing is flexible as it has options for students that prefer to live in the on-campus residence as well as those that are better off with living off-campus. This is as a result of the college having it as one of their priorities to ensure that students, especially international students, are comfortable in their new homes. However, students should read and understand the contracts and acts guiding whichever choice they make so as to know their rights.

Students that prefer on-campus residence, have access to the wonderful facilities and features with which Centennial college prides itself in providing its students with a home away from home. Some of the features include a fully furnished bedroom, study desk and chair, couch, side chair, and coffee table, full kitchen with full-sized refrigerator, in-suite heating, and air conditioning controls, etc. All these are available to the student at the rate of $12000 per annum.

The cost of living for off-campus students in a month spans between $700 to $1000 per month depending on the neighborhood, and frequency of feeding, transportation, and personal needs.
More so, one pays additional sales tax when purchasing many goods and items in Canada.

Centennial College Scholarships 2022

Centennial college tuition for students on scholarship also exists. Individuals or corporations donate funds to support people who cannot shoulder the financial involvement of their career pursuit in college. There are about three categories of scholarships available in the college. They are scholarships available to

  • All Students
  • International Students only
  • Citizens, permanent residents, and protected persons only

Among the scholarships available to all students, few are

  • Brandon Ramdial Building Leaders Scholarship. Prospective beneficiaries of this scholarship are students in their second or third year of a Ministry-approved Post-secondary program. The student must have a cumulative GPA not less than 3.0 and must be someone that acts as a role model.

Scholarships available to international students only include but are not limited to

  • Luigi and Italia Cavallaro Scholarship. This is peculiar in the sense that asides from other criteria which include being an international student with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 in the second year of a ministry-approved Post-secondary program, students must be first-generation students. A First-generation student is a student whose parents never attended college or university.
More detail about these scholarships can be viewed on the college website on the scholarships page.

Most of the scholarships are for full-time students with values ranging from $1000 to $2000.

In conclusion, Centennial College tuition is structured to accommodate every student that wishes to study in a comfortable and friendly environment. Its goal is to provide its students with a home-away-from-home environment while exploring the rich diversity and learning made easy resources in the school.
