UChicago has always remained committed to educating extraordinary people regardless of race, religion, gender or financial ability. There are 6,286 undergraduate students and 10,159 graduate, professional, and other students in Uchicago. 


UChicago admits approximately 6,306 students annually, but the admissions are most selective with an acceptance rate of 7%. Undergraduate applicants are expected to show who they are in their own voice, what their story is, why they choose to pursue certain University of Chicago scholarships opportunities and what activities are most meaningful to them.

Submitting Documents

UChicago Office of College Admissions prefers electronic submission of all documents through the Coalition Application or Common Application for undergraduate and transfer applicants. 

The application fee at the University of Chicago is $75.


Uchicago has a number of graduate schools and each school and division has its own application. So graduate applicants are required to create a unique application to different programs if they are applying to multiple programs. 

For doctoral programs, faculty committees review and decide all of the applications that are submitted while masters’ program applications are decided by committees that are composed of a combination of faculty and admissions staff members.

The University of Chicago’s tuition is very expensive which is why there is provision for University of Chicago scholarships. For undergraduate students, the tuition fee is $53,292 per year, notwithstanding the student’s major. There are other expenses other than the tuition fee such as room, board, fees, supplies, book, and personal expenses. So the average cost for undergraduate students amounts to $74,526 per year.

For graduate courses, graduate tuition fees are influenced by several factors which include the department, academic degree, and the number of courses being taken. The average tuition fee is $100,000 per year.

University of Chicago Scholarships  for International Students


University of Chicago Scholarships are available for international students so that student’s finance does not become a barrier between them and quality education. 

The university practices “No Barrier Commitment.” where it pledges that the financial need of students will be met in scholarships and grants. Also, application fees are waived for those who apply for aid, loans will not be given as part of the financial aid package, and funds will be provided for activities such as internships and research opportunities.

Both domestic and international students are eligible for any University of Chicago scholarships they demonstrate a need for. Therefore, all admitted students can receive the maximum amount of tuition, room, personal expenses, and fees if the student demonstrates a strong need for financial assistance through full-ride scholarships.
