Teacher Appreciation Week 2023- Nice Messages You Can Send to your Teachers

Teacher Appreciation Week 2023 in the United States will begin on Monday, 3 May, and ends on Friday, 7 May with students, parents, and guidance all over the country celebrating all teachers.

My favorite teacher is Mr. Frank Martins who taught me during my undergraduate years. I do not fail to send him a message every year during the teacher’s appreciation week. This has turned into a ritual and I am sure he’s expecting a message from me this year too.

This tradition started Thirty-seven years (37) ago, in 1984 precisely. The National Parent Teachers Association (PTA) has chosen one week in May as a special time to appreciate the men and women who lend their passion and skills to educating our children. According to them, the theme for this year’s event is #ThankATeacher. The statement on their website reads in part

Let’s face it. This school year has been weird. But we’re getting through it, in part thanks to our nation’s amazing educators. Take a moment to #ThankATeacher during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 3-7.

What is Teachers Appreciation Week?

The Teacher Appreciation Week is a wonderful opportunity for students and parents, to show their gratitude to their children’s teachers. In addition to being Teacher’s Appreciation Week, according to nea.org, Tuesday, May 9, is also designated as National Teacher’s Day.

The National Education Association describes National Teacher Day “as a day for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives.”

Why Teachers Deserve Teacher Appreciation Week

Have you ever passed a school while driving at 6 a.m. on a Monday or 2 p.m. on a Sunday? Most likely, if you have, you have observed instructor vehicles in the parking lot. I almost always run into other teachers when I go to work in my classroom after school hours, which is a lot. If they aren’t in class, they are generally planning or grading late into the night and on the weekends from their homes. Many individuals are unaware of the dedication teachers devote to their work. It’s a wonderful work, but it’s also sometimes thankless and exhausting.
