The University of California, Los Angeles, known as UCLA, is a public research university founded in 1882 and located in Los Angeles. In 2019, US News & World Report named UCLA the best public university in the United States.

There are six undergraduate colleges, seven professional schools, and four professional health science schools.
UCLA offers 337 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a wide range of disciplines and enrolls about 31,500 undergraduate and 12,800 graduate students. In fall 2016, there were 119,000 applicants, including transfer applicants, making UCLA the most applied-to of any American university.

University of California, Los Angeles Admissions
The University of California gives admission to students from around the world. Each year students are admitted from nearly 90 countries. There are currently 12,000 strong international students and scholar community at UCLA.
Undergraduate
The undergraduate colleges at UCLA are the
College of Letters and Science; Samueli School of Engineering; School of the Arts and Architecture; Herb Alpert School of Music; School of Theater, Film, and Television; and School of Nursing.
Undergraduate applicants can apply for admission and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Scholarships as a freshman (first-year), or as a transfer student. A freshman applicant is one who has completed secondary school and has not enrolled in a regular session at any college or university.
Students who already hold Bachelor’s degrees, nor have the equivalent of three years (130 quarter-units or more) of transferable university work are not admitted into UCLA undergraduate program.
Secondary School Requirements
International students must have completed secondary school with a superior average in academic subjects and have earned a certificate of completion which enables the student to be admitted to a university in the home country.
TRANSCRIPTS AND OFFICIAL RECORDS
Applicants are expected to submit records from all secondary schools attended, showing subjects are taken and grades received as well as any national or government certificates earned. University coursework or documents of all college must be sent in the original language, along with English translations.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
International Applicants whose first language, or the language of instruction for at least the last three years, is not English, are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS).
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- A competitive score is above 100 (with sub-scores above 22).
International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
- A competitive score is 7 or higher.
Optional – Duolingo English Test
Applicants can provide additional information about their English ability by submitting a score on the Duolingo English Test. This is optional and it may assist UCLA in evaluating an applicant’s application. TOEFL or IELTS is still required.
Scores must be forwarded by the testing service to the UCLA Undergraduate Admission Office..
Graduate
International graduate applicants have a few of the requirements to consider while applying to UCLA.
SUBMITTING YOUR INTERNATIONAL TRANSCRIPTS
international applicants into the UCLA graduate program are expected to upload unofficial transcripts from all academic institutions he or she attended into the Application for Graduate Admission.
If admitted to UCLA, applicants must submit official and original final academic records. These original documents issued by the institution—not photocopies—must bear the actual signature of the Registrar and the seal of the issuing institution. New graduate students are expected to submit official records in the original language with a complete, authorized English translation.
