Pitts’s average GPA is 4.07.

If you get a GPA of 4.07, it is expected that your transcript should have straight A’s. Use hard courses like AP or IB classes which are quite hard to make up and help boost your weighted GPA if you have a lower GPA. A high GPA also proves you can take college classes.

However, high school juniors or seniors will find it hard to change their GPA in time for college applications. 4.07 GPA or below will require a higher SAT or ACT score to compensate. A higher SAT or ACT score will help you compete against other applicants who have higher GPAs.

SAT and ACT Requirements

SAT Score Choice Policy

The University of Pittsburgh will take your highest score on a single test date. We recommend taking at least 4 tests and not more than 6 tests. Pitt wants to give you the best chance of admission, and retaking the test to get a higher score is a way to do this.

Do not take the test more than 6 times, as the admission committee will wonder why you’re not improving with each test. This will also cause them to question your study skills and ability to improve.
