University of the Arts London 2021

University of the Arts London (UAL) is a public collegiate university as a university in 2003, and took its present name in 2004 in London, England. 

The university specialises in arts, design, fashion and the performing arts. UAL is a federation of six arts colleges: Camberwell College of Arts, Central Saint Martins, Chelsea College of Arts, the London College of Communication, the London College of Fashion, and the Wimbledon College of Arts.

In 2019, UAL was ranked number 2 for art and design in the QS World University Rankings and received an overall ranking of 84 out of 124 in the 2019 Complete University Guide league tables, down from 48th place in 2013 and 59th in the 2012 ranking. It scored 56.5 out of 100 for graduate prospects, and 3.94 out of 5 for student satisfaction with teaching.

UAL was ranked 75th in the 2019 Guardian University Guide and 21st out of 67 institutions in the Art subject table.

UAL has thirteen halls of residence in various parts of London and is the fourth among United Kingdom institutions by number of international students.

Fields of Study:

In order to be awarded the University of the Arts London tuition and accommodation scholarships, the candidate is required to apply to study a full-time taught masters course at one of UAL’s six Colleges starting in the academic year of 2021/22. The course applied to must offer either an M ARCH, MA, MFA, MRes or MSc qualification.

The following courses listed below not qualify:

Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert), Graduate Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma, Integrated Masters (or any similar course that qualifies for undergraduate support from UK student finance agencies), EMBA, MBA, distance learning, blended learning and online courses.

Eligibility

Criteria 1: The student must currently hold an offer to study a full-time taught master’s course at one of UAL’s six Colleges starting in the academic year of 2021/22. Your course must offer either an M ARCH, MA, MFA, MRes or MSc qualification.

The following courses do not qualify: Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert), Graduate Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma, Integrated Masters (or any similar course that qualifies for undergraduate support from UK student finance agencies), EMBA, MBA, distance learning, blended learning and online courses.

In addition, students who already hold a UK postgraduate taught qualification (or one at an equivalent level) from studies undertaken in the UK or abroad are not eligible to apply. Read more about Previous Study for details.

Criteria 2: You need to be a resident in one of the low income economy countries or developing countries detailed in our list of qualifying countries (see below). G20 member countries have been excluded.

In your application you’ll be asked to provide evidence with documentation that you are ordinarily resident in a developing country. For example you may be asked for an ID card, copy of your immigration documents or formal evidence of your address.

You are presently an asylum seeker in the UK at the point of applying for the University of the Arts London tuition and accommodation scholarships.

Criteria 3: Your annual household income must be £50,000 or less (or the equivalent exchange value in a qualifying countries currency) at the point of scholarship application.

Criteria 4: You must Provide a personal statement which responds to the following questions listed below as part of your UAL International Postgraduate Scholarship application (maximum 350 words per question):

Describe how receiving a Postgraduate Scholarship would make a difference to you

Tell us how you intend to use the qualification you will be gaining to support your future plans

Describe how you would address challenges in your home country

Tell us how you would uphold the values of social justice and environmental stewardship

Value of Award

The University of the Arts London tuition and accommodation scholarships provides a £30,000 award to cover tuition fee charges and make a contribution towards living costs. Scholarship recipients will also be offered International Students House (ISH) accommodation for the duration of their study.

How to Apply for the University of the Arts London tuition and accommodation scholarships

After submitting a fully completed application for a qualifying course, University of the Arts London will send you an email with details about how (if you meet the eligibility criteria) you can apply for a UAL International Postgraduate Scholarship.

In your application you’ll be asked to provide evidence with documentation that you qualify for the overseas category for tuition fee purposes. For example you may be asked for an ID card, a copy of your immigration documents, or formal evidence of your address.

Bear in mind you need to submit your fully completed course application in order to have time to send you a UAL International Postgraduate Scholarships online application form.
