Undergraduate Scholarships

An Undergraduate scholarship is a scholarship available to prospective students who want to study for an associate or bachelor’s degree

Before you apply for undergraduate scholarships in 2021, there are some basic things you should know. This includes undergraduate scholarship eligibility criteria, and the requirements expected from the student to maintain the scholarship. 

Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduate scholarships are often targeted at students with specific backgrounds or cultural affiliations. This includes students with outstanding academic records or those pursuing a major in a relevant field or industry. For example, a student who wants to pursue a degree in chemical engineering may be eligible for a scholarship from a professional organization for chemical engineers. 

Any student can benefit from undergraduate scholarships. It can be a returning or adult students to traditional students entering college right out of high school. Eligibility requirements for undergraduate scholarships vary considerably, but below are some of the general requirements:

  • Already hold a high school diploma or GED or pursuing a high school diploma or GED 
  • Meet specific GPA, SAT or ACT score, or other academic requirements
  • Are affiliated with a cultural or ethnic community related to the scholarship
  • Are pursuing a major related to the scholarship
  • Participate in activities related to the scholarship, such as FFA (Future Farmers of America)
  • Eligible to attend a two- or four-year university
  • Be a legal U.S. resident or International student
  • Participate in activities related to the scholarship, such as FFA (Future Farmers of America)
  • Participate in community service or volunteer activities

Undergraduate scholarships will come with a different set of eligibility criteria so the eligibility requirements listed above are not all-inclusive. Undergraduate scholarships are particular quite diverse in terms of subject matter and monetary reward

List of Undergraduate scholarships in 2021

1. Undergraduate Scholarships 2021 for Social Science Students

These Undergraduate Scholarships for Social Science Students is targeted at courses such as anthropology, sociology, economics, social work, political science, communication studies, and humanities-based majors like history, linguistic, and cultural studies among many others. 

These scholarships include:

Barbara Newsome Sociology Internship Award

Host institution: The University of Minnesota in the United States.

Recipients receive $1,600 stipend for at least 35 internship hours related to the major.

Boren Scholarships for International Social Study

This Undergraduate Scholarships for Social Science Students appeals mainly to those that have an interest in studying the challenges of global society, including sustainable development, disease and hunger, migration, and environmental degradation.

Recipients receive over $20,000 in addition to other incentives.

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Scholarship Program

The scholarship prize gives $1,000 to an associate degree, $2,500 to an undergraduate degree, and $5,000 to graduate degree Latino students in the social sciences.

David J. Ewing Scholarship Program

It is a Social Science Scholarships for International students whose parents died while in their prime and catering for them. David J. Ewing Scholarship Program was set up in honor of the former Director of Human Resources whose cancer cut his life short at a young age.

Candidates must be full-time undergraduate students at the University of Texas. Additionally, certain academic thresholds must be met before one can be considered for this Undergraduate scholarship for Social Science Students.

Dr. Alma S. Adams Scholarships for Outreach and Health Communications

It is a Scholarships for Social Science majors aimed at providing financial assistance to students advancing the cause of global health and Tobacco health dangers.

It is equally among Social Science Scholarships for developing countries 2021 because it offers preference to students from low-income communities.

Recipients receive as much as $5,000 for both graduate and undergraduate applicants.

Fred Frey Paper Competition Scholarships

The Fred Frey Paper Competition Scholarships was actually established in memory of the founder of the Department of Sociology celebrating his contribution to sociology education.

Only Louisiana University students can apply. However, an exception could be made based on recommendations. It allows just three scholarship slots. The scholarship covers tuition fees and other incentives that come with it.

Rachel and Jacob Bernstein Scholarship for Study Abroad

The Scholarship is a fully funded Undergraduate Scholarships for Social Science Students offered by the University of Buffalo. It sponsors only a Sociology degrees.

Among the requirements is proof of financial need along with other conditions as stipulated on the website.

Presbyterian Student Opportunity Scholarship

It is a Social Science Scholarships for International students offered by the Presbyterian Church. It’s offered to college students by providing need-based aid for sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are full-time, first-degree students attending accredited institutions in the U.S.

Recipients receive $3000 in scholarships.

However, only Presbyterian Church Members can apply.

2. University of Melbourne International Undergraduate Scholarships 2021

Melbourne grants international students aids in the form of finance to sponsor their academic pursuits especially the high achieving ones. The University of Melbourne International Undergraduate Scholarships 2021 is open to all international students with admission to study at the University.

It is in line with the school’s long legacy of accommodating visiting students in the best possible ways.

Requirements

  • The applicant must be a citizen of a country other than Australia and New Zealand and not a permanent resident of Australia.
  • Must have received provisional admission to University of Melbourne
  • Should have at least four A* grades in the GCE A Levels.
  • University of Melbourne International Undergraduate Scholarships is for those that have achieved excellent final year school results.
  • A minimum score of 43 in the International Baccalaureate (IB).

Scholarship Worth: Recipients will receive $10,000 in the first year of their course at the University.

3. 10 Undergraduate Scholarships For Mathematics Students 2021

There’s a total of 10 scholarships, and each aid amounts to $7,500 Euros per year, for students wishing to acquire a degree in Mathematics but lack funds for.

4. Will Conard Undergraduate Scholarships in UK, 2021

Regent’s University London is delighted to call for applications for the Will Conard Scholarships for Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing for September or January intake. 5. Australia Awards Scholarships 2021 for undergraduates and Postgraduates

Australia Awards Scholarships 2021 provide opportunities for undergraduates and Postgraduates from developing countries to study at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions.

Scholarship value/inclusions/duration:

  • The scholarship benefits generally include: full tuition fees, return air travel, establishment allowance, contribution to living expenses (CLE), Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), Introductory Academic Program (IAP), Pre-course English (PCE) fees, etc. See the complete list of benefits on the official website.
  • The scholarships are offered for the minimum period necessary for the individual to complete the academic program specified by the Australian higher education institution, including any preparatory training.

6. DoD SMART Scholarships 2021 for STEM Undergraduates in US

The Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) is a scholarship-for-service program that provides full tuition to interested individuals in exchange for a period of post-graduation civilian service in a DoD facility.

The scholarship comes in the form of an internship program that allows for broadly relevant works experiences and hands-on research in DoD facilities, thereby enhancing the applicant’s overall educational experience.

DoD offers research students not only an education but also a career, through SMART. So students can find opportunities to continue their research in civil service roles following graduation.

Level/Field of Study

Applicants who are pursuing an undergraduate and graduate degree in, or closely related to, one of the following Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines Host Nationality

The United States.

Eligible Nationality

The DoD SMART Scholarship for Service is available to legal students who are citizens of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand.

Scholarship Worth

The U.S. SMART scholarship Participants receive cash awards ranging from $25,000-$41,000 per year, depending on prior educational experience. The benefits include the following;

  • The annual stipend
  • Health Insurance reimbursement allowance of $1,200 per academic year
  • Book allowance of $1,000 per academic year
  • Summer Internships (multi-year participants)
  • Post-Graduation Career Opportunities/ employment placement within the DoD
  • Mentoring by a DoD sponsoring facility

7. Westminster Undergraduate Full Scholarships UK 2021

Westminster’s Undergraduate Full Scholarships are the University’s most competitive scholarships that are open to international students from developing countries who wish to pursue a full-time Undergraduate degree at the University of Westminster.

Eligibility:

You must be an international student from a developing country and hold an offer for a full-time undergraduate degree at the University.  The criteria for awarding the scholarships are academic excellence, development potential, and financial need.
