The Abbott and Fenner Scholarship began in 2008, offering cash prizes in the form of scholarships to high school students. Since then, the scholarship has been given to over 20 high school junior students who possess exceptional potentials. The scholarship aims to provide assistance to high school students undergoing an active session in an American college or institution.

The Abbott and Fenner Scholarship is offered annually. Initially, aspiring teachers, law students, as well as physical therapy candidates were all eligible for this scholarship. However, the scholarship has seen a remodeling that has put only high school students as favorites. Today, the scholarship is only for high school students who have the desire to expand and further their education.

The scholarship is open for all high school juniors and seniors. It is as well open to all students who are currently in any post-secondary institution.

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Eligibility Criteria.

Eligibility for the Abbott and Fenner Scholarship is white simple. To be eligible, you have to be a high school student in an American college or institution. This is because the scholarship is only available within the US. All applicants must be high school juniors or seniors in an active academic session. For students who are willing to apply but are not in high school, they must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution. Some of the other criteria that applicants must satisfy includes;

Age: Students must be between the ages of 16 and 30.

Nationality: Only students studying in the US are eligible.

Citizenship: Only American citizens can enjoy this scholarship. International students (students without an American citizenship) are ineligible for this scholarship.

Application Procedure. 

For the application, below is a list of what the Abbott and Fenner scholarship requires from the applicants.

1. Candidates are to submit a composition essay. The essay should contain their entire educational career up till the moment of application. (This should be between 500-1000 words, no more no less).

2. The essay should clearly state the students’ aspirations and dreams.

3. The essay should also explain clearly how the student plans to achieve those aspirations and dreams.

4. Students should also include their degree/major and why they chose that.

5. The essay should also state how this degree/major can help the applicant achieve their aims and aspirations.

6. Applicants are also to provide their proof of admission to the application essay.

The sponsors reach out to successful candidates through their contact information. Therefore, applicants who fail to include their full name and mailing address during application are automatically disqualified.

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Worth.

Every year, each winner of the Abbott and Fenner scholarship receives a prize money of $1000. This money is given to the student to assist him or her achieve their dreams and aspirations. The scholarship is nonrenewable and as such, every awardee can receive it only once.

After the close of application, the sponsors screen each applicant and select the most deserving. Thereafter, the most deserving, i.e the winner, or winners, receive $1000 as a contribution from the sponsors for his or her tuition. This has been the practice since inception of the scholarship and is still the practice till date.
