Ashinaga Scholarships for Orphans from sub-Saharan Africa 2023

Brief Description Of Ashinaga

Ashinaga provides financial support and emotional care to orphans or young people around the world, especially from sub-Saharan Africa, who have lost either one or both parents. The organization’s history dates back more than 55 years, and its support has enabled more than 110,000 orphaned students to gain access to higher education.

Since 2002, Ashinaga expanded activities internationally, opening its first office abroad in Uganda, and has subsequently established new offices in Senegal, the US, Brazil, the UK, and France to support the Ashinaga Africa Initiative.

Ashinaga, through the “Ashinaga Africa Initiative”, aims to provide higher education to 20 brilliant students from Sub-Saharan African countries each year, some of which are among the poorest in the world. It also aims to encourage them to become leading professionals in their own countries.

Ashinaga searches and screens potential candidates: especially orphaned or bereaved students with academic potential but who cannot afford to apply to university.

They are provided with a concentrated study camp for six months at Ashinaga’s facility, Kokorojuku, in Uganda and Senegal, where they are given dedicated support and assistance with their study of various subjects and languages, as they prepare to apply to highly ranked universities around the world.

Selected applicants are also provided with full scholarships and living expenses for four years during their studies abroad. Ashinaga expects to see these young, educated people finish in flying colors and go back to their own countries and establish democratic and fulfilled societies, bringing people a high-quality education and higher national income.
