FAQs about Escambia County School District

The Escambia County School District offers what advantages?

There are no rewards for long-term replacement instructors or reliable substitute teachers.

What aspect of working for Escambia County School District causes the greatest stress?

The most aggravating aspect is that if you work in a low-income school, your administration will treat you and your pupils as if their standardized test scores are the only thing that counts. Education has changed dramatically in the 19 years since I began, and the stress of testing is the primary source of concern for this instructor.

Do you have to complete a new application for every position you apply for?

You only need to complete the extra questions for the role once you’ve created a profile. Make sure, however, that your professional experience is relevant to the post.

How long will my name remain on an eligibility list?

For open/continuous roles, the time frame is six months. There are about three to six months between open and closing roles, but you must apply each time the position opens.

What if I have a criminal background, will I still be hired?

The Human Resources department will evaluate your criminal history when considering your fitness for a specific position, but there are no general restrictions on employing you. A variety of pertinent variables will be examined, including the obligations of the position you have applied for, the nature of the misbehavior, how recent it was, and evidence of rehabilitation, if any.
If you have a specific conviction in your history, you may be barred from working in certain roles under certain restrictions. The most prevalent scenario involves employment at the County Jail and/or the Work Annex. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement requires applicants to pass a background check.

If I fail the drug test, will I still be hired?

Employment offers are based on a number of conditions, one of which is the successful completion of the pre-employment physical and drug test. If you do not pass the pre-employment physical or fail the drug test, your job offer will be withdrawn and you will not be employed. Prospective workers who test positive for drug usage will be prevented from applying for jobs for a year, in addition to not being employed as intended.
